Professional Bio
Richard Chaves Jr. is a third-generation business leader and the driving force behind the modern expansion of the Chaves family’s legacy. As President of Parking Company of America and CEO of Chaves Global, he oversees a diversified portfolio that spans parking management, transportation services, and real estate development across the United States.
Born and raised just outside Dallas, Texas, Richard grew up in the family business, which was founded in 1964 by his grandfather and great uncle. After formally joining the company in 2017, he managed operations in Texas and New Mexico, overseeing more than 50 employees across multiple divisions.
In 2019, Richard led a pivotal expansion into Kansas City, Missouri—spearheading the acquisition of the former Farmland Industries headquarters, now The Ambassador Building. Alongside this redevelopment, he launched a 62-acre mixed-use project with a 4,000-space airport parking facility, establishing a strong presence for the company in the Midwest.
Under his leadership, Parking Company of America has secured key contracts with the State of Missouri, KCATA, Port KC, the City of Kansas City, and nonprofit organizations like Veteran's Community Project. Richard has successfully leveraged over $85 million in public incentives through TIF, CID, and other economic development tools to support these projects.
A dedicated civic leader, Richard chairs the Northland Strong PAC, advocates for regional infrastructure improvements, and helped secure $53 million in state funds to improve highways in Kansas City’s Northland. He also serves on the Executive Committees of the Northland Regional Chamber of Commerce and Platte County EDC.
Richard lives in the Northland with his wife Taylor and their two children. While headquartered in Missouri, he continues to work with family across Texas, California, New Mexico, and beyond to grow the company’s national impact.
