Diana Alarcon brings more than 25 years of private and public sector experience to the position of Director of Transportation and Mobility. City of Tucson’s Transportation & Mobility Department is responsible for parking, planning, engineering, capital improvement, roadway projects, transportation policy, transit, traffic signalization and street & traffic maintenance. She joined the City on October 29, 2018.

Prior to joining Tucson, Diana was championing sustainability and connectivity initiatives such as complete street designs, vision zero, citywide greenways and blue-ways as the Director of Transportation and Mobility with the City of Fort Lauderdale, FL. Diana lead the City’s initiative of “connecting our blocks” by creating a true multimodal transportation network of all users through reassignment of existing right-of-way and insuring the connectivity extends beyond the city limits into all neighboring cities.

Diana celebrated 23 years of marriage to her husband, Jorge Alarcon. They have two sons that are currently in college so they are adjusting to the life of being empty nesters. They are excited to part of the Tucson Community and look forward to participating in many future events
