Every two years, IPMI invites members to apply for volunteer service on its committees and volunteer groups. The next volunteer term begins in October 2026 and runs through May 2028.

Volunteering with IPMI is an opportunity to share your expertise, collaborate with industry peers, and help advance the parking, transportation, and mobility profession. Whether you're looking to expand your network, develop new leadership skills, or contribute to initiatives that make a meaningful impact, explore the volunteer opportunities below to find those that best align with your interests and experience.

As an IPMI volunteer, you will:

  • Expand your professional network by collaborating with industry leaders and peers from across the parking, transportation, and mobility community.
  • Develop valuable leadership and professional skills through teamwork, strategic projects, and committee service while earning PTMP points.
  • Make a meaningful impact by helping shape IPMI programs, resources, and initiatives that support the profession and its members.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Explore the volunteer opportunities below and take a close look at each group's purpose, focus, and expected commitment. During the application process, you may select up to three opportunities that best align with your interests, experience, and professional goals. While you may express interest in multiple groups, volunteers will be appointed to one committee or group for the volunteer term.


  • AWARDS & RECOGNITION: Awards of Excellence

Term: October 1, 2026 – May 31, 2028

Meetings: Online judging November-December 2026 and November – December 2027

Purpose: Judges rank submissions in each category based upon published criteria. Judges are experienced professionals in their field in addition to planners, engineers, architects, and marketing professionals. The program includes projects, programs, and marketing campaigns, and judges share their expertise to assist in awarding Apex winners and Honorable Mention recipients.

  • AWARDS & RECOGNITION: Professional Recognition

Term: October 1, 2026 – May 31, 2028

Meetings: Online judging November-December 2026 and November – December 2027 (subject to change)

Purpose: Judges review nominations and rank submissions based on established criteria and assist in awarding winners that recognize excellence, including Industry Professional of the Year, Organization of the Year, Emerging Leader of the Year, and Professional Excellence Awards.

  • CONFERENCE PROGRAM TASK FORCE

Term: October 1, 2026 – December 31, 2028

Meetings: Submission rankings from September – November of each term year, and other online meetings as needed

Purpose: The Conference Program Task Force reviews and ranks speaker submissions through the Call for Presentations for the annual IPMI Conference & Expo. Volunteers commit to 100 percent participation and rate up to 40 submissions each during a one-month period.

  • EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

Term: October 1, 2026 – August 31, 2028

Meetings: Typically, online monthly meetings from October through May of each term year

Purpose: The Education Development Committee creates, delivers, and evaluates professional development training opportunities in alignment with the PTMP Role Delineation Study. Volunteers create content for IPMI and the United States Green Building Council/Green Building Certification Institute. The committee may also support the development of content, resources, and other initiatives aligned with IPMI's strategic priorities.

  • LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

Term: October 1, 2026 – May 31, 2028

Meetings: Typically, online monthly meetings from October through May of each term year

Purpose: The Leadership Development Committee will explore and identify ways to advance and accelerate leadership development which may include conducting presentations, creating webinar content and delivery as well as writing articles, blogs or creating member surveys. Other strategies for providing expanded leadership development may also be explored and created including new products or member services. The committee may also support the development of educational content, resources, and other initiatives aligned with IPMI's strategic priorities.

  • PARKSMART & SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY WORKING GROUP

Term: October 1, 2026 – May 31, 2028

Meetings: Online, bi-monthly meetings from October through May of each term year

Proposed Purpose: The Parksmart & Sustainable Mobility Working Group advances IPMI's sustainable mobility initiatives by supporting the Parksmart program, contributing subject matter expertise, and assisting with the development and review of Parksmart and sustainability newsletters, content, courses, and related resources. Volunteers create related content for IPMI and the United States Green Building Council/Green Building Certification Institute.

  • PLANNING & BUILT ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE

Term: October 1, 2026 – May 31, 2028

Meetings: Online, bi-monthly meetings from October through May of each term year

Purpose: The Planning and Built Environment Committee explores issues and provides resources on planning, architecture, engineering, construction, and real estate, including the design and adaptation of new and future facilities with a focus on innovation. The committee supports the development of educational content, resources, and other initiatives aligned with IPMI's strategic priorities.

  • TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE

Term: October 1, 2026 – May 31, 2028

Meetings: Typically, online monthly meetings from October through May of each term year

Purpose: The Technology Committee provides education and best practices on cutting‐edge technology, implementing that technology, on leveraging multiple technologies as the industry advances and evolves. The committee develops and presents high-visibility educational sessions, including an annual presentation. Volunteers contribute to technology-related content for newsletters, collaborative articles, presentations and publications, and additional areas of research. The committee may also support the development of educational content, resources, and other initiatives aligned with IPMI's strategic priorities.

  • TRANSPORTATION EQUITY AND ACCESSIBILITY COMMITTEE 

Term: October 1, 2026 – May 31, 2028

Meetings: Typically, online monthly meetings from October through May of each term year

Purpose: The Transportation Equity and Accessibility Committee explores issues, emerging trends, and leading practices related to transportation equity and accessibility. The committee provides insights and perspectives that help inform IPMI initiatives and the parking, transportation, and mobility profession. The committee may also support the development of educational content, resources, and other initiatives aligned with IPMI's strategic priorities.

Qualifications

To be considered for a volunteer appointment, applicants must:

  • Be an IPMI member in good standing.
  • Have a genuine interest in supporting IPMI and advancing its mission.
  • Be able to commit the time needed to actively participate throughout the volunteer term.

You may apply for up to three volunteer opportunities. We encourage you to carefully review each group's purpose and expected responsibilities before making your selections. While you may express interest in multiple groups, applicants will be appointed to one committee or group for the volunteer term.
