Analysis & Applications of Technology

Data is all around us, and data-driven decision making is key to operational success. But what exactly is data and how can parking and mobility operations make use of it? Explore the various data sources prevalent in the industry, how data is stored in the back end of the many systems utilized, which tools are common in data analysis. Attendees will also be presented with a high-level overview of advanced analytics.

• Discuss the definition of data and identify examples common to the industry.
• Identify and discuss common data sources relevant to parking and mobility operations.
• Examine basic analytical tools for data exploration and analysis and how they can be used to gain operational efficiencies and make decisions.
• Explore the definition and examples of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning, and how they can be applied in our industry.

Instructor:

Chris Lechner, CAPP is the Assistant Director for Analytics at UCLA Events and Transportation. Chris was selected as IPMI’s 2021 Emerging leader of the year has implemented LPR systems at UCLA, and Loyola Marymount University. Chris’ current focus is advocating for the increased use of data to improve operations and gain efficiencies in the mobility and higher education sectors.
