Alejandra "Alex" Argudin made history on March 4, 2020, when she was appointed the first woman chief executive officer of Miami Parking Authority (MPA). Her 19-year tenure with the authority is a testament to her dedication and expertise in the field. A forward-thinker, Alex was born and raised in Miami, which gave her a front-window perspective on the Magic City's urban transformation. Her vision has propelled MPA to pilot several smart-city digital technologies, launch a unique cross-jurisdictional parking management initiative outside Miami, and forge public-private partnerships. The latter is projected to increase the workforce housing stock, attract new residents and businesses to the central business district, and foster economic growth and social vitality in the Miami urban core. This vision for the future of urban development is both exciting and promising.

As chairperson of the International Parking and Mobility Institute (IPMI), Alex's unwavering commitment to shaping urban planning policies to be on par with new and emerging technologies is remarkable. She recognizes the world's rapid urbanization and believes that the quality of life of future generations depends on the decisions made today. Her dedication to working with the public and private sectors to improve mobility, refurbish ageing infrastructure, and foster livability and economic growth in urban environments is a reassuring sign of the resilience of highly urbanized cities. A coveted panelist, keynote speaker, and civic volunteer, she recently took over as chairperson of the IPMI. In addition, Alex is the past chairperson of The WOW Center and a member of Florida International University's President's Council. Alex graduated from Florida International University with a master's degree in Business Administration. She holds the Certified Administrator of Public Parking designation and is a U.S. Green Building Council, Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP).
