More than Just a Ride - All Electric First/Last Mile Transportation

Level- Foundational About the Course:

Short Description:

This on demand eLearning course is a webinar style course that addresses the growing issues of parking, traffic, and emissions in cities.  Convenient parking options and fixed-route public transportation may be able to do only so much to help people reach desired destinations and remove barriers to travel that disproportionately impact disadvantaged communities.

In this course, learn to:

  • Determine if an all-electric first/last mile transportation is right for the community or campus by collecting ridership data to ensure the transit route is meeting the community needs.
  • Understand how to properly advocate and plan for a first/last mile transportation service, including working with stakeholders to encourage support, promote acceptance and educate the community in the benefits of reducing traffic congestion and improving air quality by using this service.
  • Address financial needs related to similar electric first and last mile programs, including determining potential costs, infrastructure needs, potential use fees, budgeting, and marketing to the community to address gaps in service by potentially using electric carts and bicycles.
  • Incorporate first/last mile transportation best practices to increase the chances of success and acceptance of a service in the community while supporting land use to make it more sustainable.
