Gabe Mendez, CAPP became the director of transportation operations at University of Wisconsin-Madison in August 2020. Gabe oversees the Commuter Solutions, Parking Technology, Enforcement, Maintenance and Fleet-Vehicle Services units, developing and implementing sustainable transportation programs and services for commuters and the university fleet. Gabe’s been in the parking, transportation, and mobility industry since 2001 starting with SP+ and continuing his professional development with the Downtown Mesa Association and most recently with Arizona State University.

Biography and Areas of Interest
Gabe currently is the Director of Transportation Operations at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with over 20 years of experience in the parking, transportation and mobility industry working in the commercial, municipal, and higher education segments. His experience spans working in a parking booth, supervising event parking, managing parking garage operations, overseeing &developing budgets, and drafting & updating policies and municipal ordinances. At the University of Wisconsin-Madison Gabe oversees a Platinum Bicycle Friendly University program that contributed to UW-Madison achieving IPMI’s Accredited Parking Organization with Distinction recognition. Over the last 15+ years Gabe has also served the parking industry by participating in various IPMI volunteer opportunities, serving on the SWPTA board, and mentoring employees in the parking industry and higher education. Most recently Gabe has also been appointed to the City of Madison’s Planning Commission.
