Professional Bio
Mr. Diaz is the Director of Operations for the Miami Parking Authority since May 2016. He is responsible for the oversight of over 130 employees, including the Miami Marlins and Jackson Memorial Hospital. Mr. Diaz also oversees the Authority’s on-street and off-street parking portfolio, which includes five garages, 60 lots, and over 45,000 parking spaces. He brings to the agency an extensive knowledge of both the public and private parking sector. Mr. Diaz is currently serving as a Director at Large for the Florida Parking and Transportation Association.
Mr. Diaz started his career in parking as a frontline employee in 1993 as a meter collector. Throughout the years, he has managed the parking contract for the cities of Richmond, Virginia and Santa Monica, California. In Richmond, he oversaw a staff of over 80 employees and was responsible for 8,000 parking spaces with an $18 million budget. During his tenure in Santa Monica, Mr. Diaz was responsible for overseeing 15,000 parking spaces, a staff of 75 employees and an operating budget of $60 million.
Mr. Diaz has 28 years of parking experience managing municipal parking and earned his Certified Administrator of Public Parking (CAPP) through the International Parking Institute and The University of Virginia. In 1996, he completed the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program. He also graduated from the Urban Land Institute’s Leadership program in 2021. Angel is also currently a member of the Urban Land Institute, International Parking and Mobility Institute, Miami Downtown Development Authority, and Habitat For Humanity. Mr. Diaz, was also a member of the California Public Parking Association, Santa Monica Chamber, Santa Monica PAL, Santa Monica Kiwanis Club, Parking Association of the Virginias and City of Richmond’s Chamber.
