The COVID-19 pandemic changed commuting and travel behavior. In the past, we could count on commuters going to work five days a week. That's no longer true. What do parking and mobility professionals need to do now and for the foreseeable future to adjust and adapt to these new conditions? Do transportation demand management programs apply when commuters may not be commuting? Can technology be the answer? Let’s discuss!

  • Develop awareness of how commuting has changed and impacts parking and mobility professionals.
  • Recognize how to apply this awareness to TDM programs, incentives and subsidies with hybrid working.
  • Evaluate the role of technology in solving parking and TDM issues.

Presenter: Brian Shaw, CAPP, Executive Director, Stanford Transportation

Brian Shaw, CAPP, is Executive Director of Stanford Transportation at Stanford University. He has spent his more-than 25-year career fostering commuter travel choices and innovations in parking management. Under his leadership, Stanford has been able keep its peak hour trips under a cap established in 2000, while the campus has continued to grow and thrive. Brian is a Certified Administrator of Public Parking (CAPP).
