The IPMI Research & Innovation Task Force is working to establish how parking programs in municipal settings and on academic campuses can begin to drive the approach to a new working environment. The return to work has been a bumpy experience for many major employers throughout the US, with constant starts and stops and an uncertainty on the ultimate outcomes. This bumpy experience has translated to ongoing changes to parking operations in all facets of our industry. Fortunately, our industry has responded by creating new approaches to parking operations that both benefit employees and employers and help to modernize approaches to parking management that utilize aspects of transportation demand management, technological advances, and data-driven decision making.

This Shoptalk will introduce case studies of how programs are adapting through new approaches to space allocation, permit flexibility, price structure, and facility oversell. The discussion will include data points that define how this transition to hybrid work has occurred, trends to consider when implementing flexible models, and interactive activities to determine how the audience is responding to these changes.
